general appearance: With a rather intense stare from dark blue eyes, Abyss has a rather intimidating visage with high cheek bones and angular features. He has a widow's peak and a beard that heavily define his features that much more not to mention his tan skin that adds to this as well. he normally wears a suit with a simple shirt under it. He can sometimes be seen with a large top hat and a cane while walking around the circus grounds.

personality overview: One would not expect anything strange of Mr. Abyss aside form maybe his last name. Upon first meeting him, if circumstances are good, he appears to be a rather peaceful if a bit tense man. He appears to want nothing but the best for his performers and seems to be thinking about them constantly. However, under the surface of this facade of sorts, James Abyss can be extremely and unbearably cruel and harsh. He has goals and will kill anyone who gets in his way. He dislikes being challenged and will often smack down anyone who does try to challenge him. He's very good at what he does and doesn't seem to care that it seems morally wrong to take children. history:
James Abyss grew up as a quiet child who seemed to lack any sort of goal in life other than to drift. His older sister by three years, Martha, was a very focused young woman even from a young age. She would constantly torment James and tell him that he should find a goal and work towards it instead of bumbling through life. Sonya, the mother of the household, was a pale woman who worked silently like some sort of eternal sector of the house. Jamison was a hard businessman with a thick and rather intimidating frame. He used to get what he wanted by throwing this weight around and never stood to reason that it was wrong in any sort of form or fashion.

Martha continues to push and prod James out of his social hole, and after a while, he began to focus on friends as much as schooling. He had a single friend whom he clung to named Allen who ended up moving away at the end of their senior year. What seemed to be a simple good-bye for Allen oddly tore at James to the point that he wanted to harm his friend for leaving. However, James never got that chance, for the day after Allen left for New York, James learned that a mugging and killing had ended his friend. James was left cold and hurt. He scolded himself many times for not having been there, yet quietly, he began to relax again.

That was only the beginning of the deaths that would number up around James Abyss. As he had entered college mostly because he lacked any sort of aim for occupation and his parents believed that this would give him more time to settle these thoughts out, James began to focus on his work only to be stopped again as he learned that both his parents and Martha had been killed viciously by a murderer. James was left alone and devastated once more. He hated death and began to fear it like no other. His first girl friend died of an unknown illness. His second died from being strangled by her father. Despite the fact that the cases couldn't have been James's fault, he blamed himself. It was harsh, yet that was what was done in the end of it.

James began to recluse away from the small amount of people that he knew and dropped out of college. It was then that he was taken in at a circus. The old master at the time seemed to relish the idea of infusing knowledge into a boy and took up James almost through force when the boy tried to resist at first. James soon found that he liked the circus. It was a calming and protective place with people who didn't seem to care. He soon took over the show and then the entire circus.

Time passed greatly, and James Abyss found himself growing older. He wanted to be able to find someone to share a life with despite the curse of death that had been around him previously. He found it in Jacqueline. There was something about her that caught him, and despite the fact that he could not place why, he wanted to know her. With that, he began to gently start talking to her and becoming friends of sorts. After six years of on and off relationship, James finally found himself unable to wait any longer and purposed. There had been some doubt in his mind as to whether it would actually be accepted, yet there it was... right then and there... she accepted and they got married.

After that, James found himself frozen in time. Something cold in him worked around him as well. It was as though time had frozen... and in truth it had. The entire circus was then frozen in time, body, and spirit. James found himself becoming more controlling than before, and as Jacqueline suggested taking on children after it was found that she couldn't get pregnant, James agreed.

Time continued off, but he didn't, and with that, the circus was off and running.
